About Chhath Puja
The four-day Chhath celebration is particularly observed by Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh communities, with similar practices in states like Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh. The festival starts with the first day of Nahay-Khay, which emphasizes purification of oneself, hygiene, and self-control. This is followed by the following days of fasting, rituals, and worships of the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya.
The celebration is not only religious but also highlights respect for the environment and nature, demonstrating the underlying cultural values of ecological awareness and gratitude.
