Social Media users have shared a tragic video of Nikki Bhati, a dowry victim from Greater Noida, grinning while driving a Mercedes. The clip, shared on social media, shows the 28-year-old appearing happy just days before her tragic death. Nikki was set on fire at her in-laws’ home on August 21. She later died from her severe burn injuries.
Police said the incident began after a fight with her husband, Vipin Bhati. Nikki wanted to reopen her beauty parlour, which she had earlier run with her sister. Vipin allegedly objected, saying that “posting reels and running a parlour were not allowed” in his family. The argument soon turned violent. Nikki’s family alleged that Vipin then set her ablaze after physically assaulting her.
Dowry Harassment Claims
Nikki and her sister Kanchan had both married into the same family in December 2016. Nikki married Vipin, while Kanchan married his brother Rohit. According to her family, Nikki faced constant harassment for dowry soon after her wedding.
According to the family, they had already given the in-laws cash, gold, a Royal Enfield motorcycle, and a Scorpio SUV. However, they claimed that Nikki was still being pressured by her in-laws for an additional 6 lakh rupees.
The two sisters ran a beauty parlour together and promoted it through Instagram and YouTube. One of their accounts has more than 58,000 followers. It was on this Instagram account that the emotional throwback clip of Nikki in the Mercedes was posted, sparking widespread sympathy and outrage.
The August 21 Attack
Nikki’s family said she had returned to her parental home several times due to harassment, but was always sent back after “settlements.” On August 21, disturbing videos emerged of the fatal assault.

One video showed a man pouring thinner, commonly used in parlours, on Nikki as she sat on the floor. Another video showed Vipin brutally assaulting her. A third clip captured Nikki, severely burnt, struggling down a staircase before collapsing.
Statements from Nikki’s young son and her sister pointed to Vipin and another woman being directly involved in the attack. These testimonies matched the horrific video evidence circulating online.
Arrests in the Case
Police arrested Vipin Bhati on Saturday after a chase. A court has remanded him to 14 days’ judicial custody. His mother, Daya Bhati, was arrested a day later, followed by his brother Rohit Bhati on Monday.
The case has sparked outrage across Greater Noida, with many demanding strict action against dowry-related crimes.
