Bihar will shut down from 6 AM to 6 PM on September 4, 2025, due to the ‘Chakka Jam’ protest, which will be led by Mahila Morcha. The offices, banks, schools, and transportation throughout the state will be closed.
The closure of schools and banks will disproportionately affect students, parents, and daily wage earners, even while vital services like pharmacies and hospitals will remain open.
Schools to Remain Closed
All schools, colleges, and coaching centres will remain closed during the 12-hour bandh. This means thousands of students and teachers will miss their classes. Parents have been told to make other arrangements for their children.
Coaching hubs in Patna, Gaya, and other towns will also shut down, affecting exam preparations and regular lessons.

Banks Shut, Digital Banking Open
Bank branches across Bihar will stay closed tomorrow. People won’t be able to deposit or withdraw money directly at counters. However, online services such as UPI, mobile banking, internet banking, and ATMs will continue to work.
Officials have advised residents to use digital payments to avoid problems.
What Will Stay Open?
Despite the bandh, all essential services will run as usual. Hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies will be open. Ambulances will move without any restrictions. Petrol pumps and medical stores will work, and some shops selling milk, vegetables, and groceries will also remain open. The government has asked people not to panic-buy.
