With the health of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal deteriorating day by day, the team of doctors visited to examine his health at Khanauri border have recommended his immediate hospitalization.
However, the 70 years old farmer leader has refused to take any medical treatment. Dallewal’s fast unto death has completed 21 days on Monday. Dallewal, who is also a cancer patient, has been on a fast-unto-death at the Khanauri border for the past 21 days for the pending demands of the farmers including a legal guarantee of MSP on crops.
As per the doctors report the creatinine level is increasing, while the GFR (Glomerular Filtration Rate) is dropping. The doctors said that Dallewal is not eating anything and he is just drinking water. Also Dallewal has lost over 12 kg weight and he was unable to walk without support.
Dallewal slams centre
Addressing the farmers Dallewal criticizes Union Home Minister Amit Shah, stating that despite holding a highly responsible position, he is making misleading statements. Dallewala said that with advancements in technology, it is natural for crop production to increase, leading to higher procurement figures. But the real question is, whether all farmers were getting the MSP and whether the number of beneficiaries of MSP was increasing.
Dallewal highlighted that between 2004-2014, the MSP for wheat increased by ₹820, which is a 130% rise, while between 2014-2024, it only increased by ₹825 per quintal, a rise of just 56%. On the other hand, inflation from 2014 to 2023 rose by 56.53%, meaning inflation has increased more sharply than the MSP for wheat.
Abhay Chautala meets Dallewal
Indian National Lok Dal leader Abhay Chautala on Monday reaching Khanauri border to inquire about the health of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who is on fast unto death for the past three weeks.
During the visit Chautala slammed the union government for not listening to the farmers as they are protesting at the Haryana and Punjab borders for the past 10 months.
“I inquired about the health of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal. During the meeting I assured him that every member of the Indian National Lok Dal family stands with him in every struggle for the farmers’ cause. The legacy of Jan Nayak Chaudhary Devi Lal is committed to supporting farmers at every step, rising above politics”, he said.
“I appeal to all farmer leaders to come together and take a unanimous and significant decision”, he added.
