Madhya Pradesh police arrested a habitual criminal and rape suspect in a brief encounter in Gwalior district on Tuesday, a police official reported. The suspect, who sustained a bullet wound in his leg, is currently receiving treatment at the Trauma Center of Jayarogya Hospital.
Recently, on May 22, the suspect allegedly raped a girl at knifepoint. During the investigation, police learned he was planning to flee the city on Tuesday. Acting on this information, a police team apprehended him after a brief confrontation.
Superintendent of Police Dharamveer Singh stated, “Komal Bhadkariya, a resident of Gohad in Bhind district, is a habitual criminal with serious charges of murder and robbery against him. He is also accused in a recent rape case in the district. We received information that he was attempting to escape towards Chinor today. Consequently, three police teams were deployed. Upon seeing the police, he opened fire with an illegal firearm. In the ensuing exchange, he was injured and is now hospitalized.”
Further investigation into the case is ongoing, SP Singh added.
