Greater Noida MNC’s Sewage Plant Incident: How Many Men Drowned?

In a tragic incident on Monday evening, three workers lost their lives after drowning in a water tank at a sewage treatment plant of a multinational information technology company in Greater Noida.

The deceased have been identified as Mohit (24) from Dankaur, Hari Govind (26) from Kanpur Dehat, and Ankit (21) from Mathura. All three were part of the maintenance team deployed at the sewage treatment plant.

According to Ashok Kumar, Additional DCP of Greater Noida, the police received information through their response vehicle that the workers had fallen into a water tank at the firm’s Sewage Treatment Plant located in Sector Tech Zone. Despite efforts to rescue them, they were declared dead upon arrival at the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) hospital in Greater Noida.

Kumar stated, “All three men had reported for duty on Monday morning. They fell into the tank of the sewage treatment plant and drowned. Necessary legal action is being taken, and a case is being registered against the company concerned by Ecotech-1 police station.”

An officer familiar with the incident reported that the sewage treatment plant, situated in the company’s basement, housed a 20-foot deep water tank. The workers, who had been employed at the firm for the past two years, were attempting to fix a submersible pump following light rainfall that caused sewer overflow. Tragically, during this operation, they fell into the tank.

The bodies of the deceased have been sent for postmortem examination, and their families have been notified of the heartbreaking incident.
