Mumbai Police have summoned Bollywood socialite Orhan Awatramani, popularly known as Orry, for questioning in connection with a massive ₹252-crore drug case. The development follows revelations made by Mohammed Salim Sohail Shaikh, also known as Lavish, a drug supplier recently deported from Dubai.
Authorities are probing the alleged distribution network of mephedrone, a synthetic stimulant, linked to Lavish and other associates, including Bollywood parties and high-profile social gatherings.
Who Is Lavish?
Mohammed Salim Sohail Shaikh, alias Lavish, is a prime suspect in the ₹252-crore mephedrone case exposed by Mumbai Police’s Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) in March 2024. Originally from Dongri in South Mumbai, he had been living in Dubai for the past three years.
Lavish reportedly worked closely with drug lord Salim Dola, allegedly overseeing mephedrone production across seven states. Dola, who has connections to the Dawood Ibrahim gang, coordinated operations from Dubai with the help of his son Taher, nephew Mustafa Kubbawala, and other associates. Some are still believed to be in the UAE, while Salim Dola is reportedly hiding in Turkey.
Lavish’s Role in Celebrity Rave Parties
Investigations suggest that Lavish organized rave parties in India and abroad, attended by Bollywood celebrities, models, filmmakers, and gangsters. According to reports, he allegedly supplied drugs to participants at these gatherings.
“The said accused has previously organised drug parties in the country and abroad with Alisha Parkar, Nora Fatehi, Shraddha Kapoor and her brother Siddharth Kapoor, Zishan Siddiqui, Ori alias Orhan, Abbas Mastaan, Loka and many other people and has himself joined in them and is supplying drugs to these and other people,” said media reports quoting police documents.
High-Profile Investigation in Progress
The ANC is actively tracing Lavish’s network and examining further links between Bollywood personalities and drug trafficking. Police have not ruled out questioning other individuals mentioned by Lavish, including Orry Awatramani, who is now under official scrutiny.
Authorities have also tracked other key figures. Earlier this year, Taher and Kubbawala were deported from Dubai. Lavish’s activities have raised questions about the intersection of socialite circles, nightlife events, and organized drug distribution in India and abroad.
What Happens Next?
Orry Awatramani’s questioning is expected to shed light on the alleged drug supply chain and celebrity involvement. The Mumbai Police are continuing a methodical investigation to connect all the dots and ensure accountability for those involved.
The case, one of the largest mephedrone seizures in recent history, highlights the growing concern over drug abuse, party culture, and the misuse of celebrity influence in India.
