Swedish authorities are investigating Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe following allegations of rape, according to reports from Swedish media. The 25-year-old forward allegedly visited Stockholm during the international break, where the incident is said to have occurred. The accusations come amid claims that Mbappe has requested to play only select matches for France, focusing on his pursuit of the Ballon d’Or.
Complicating the situation further, Mbappe was reportedly seen at a nightclub on the same evening as France’s UEFA Nations League match against Israel, drawing criticism online. According to sources, Mbappe and his friends visited a local restaurant and nightclub in Stockholm last Thursday, leaving Sweden the following day. However, a formal complaint was reportedly filed against him on Saturday, with the alleged victim seeking medical attention shortly after the incident.

The Swedish newspaper “Expressen” identified Mbappe as the key suspect in the case. In response, Mbappe took to social media platform X to deny the allegations, calling them “FAKE NEWS.” He hinted at the timing of the claims, linking them to his upcoming hearing with a French league committee regarding a financial dispute with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
Swedish police have not released specific details about the ongoing investigation. A police spokesperson commented, “When we make a case public, there is always the risk that those involved could take steps that hinder or complicate the investigation.”
Meanwhile, photos from “Aftonbladet” showed police officers outside the hotel where Mbappe stayed in Stockholm. Mbappe’s entourage denied the accusations, calling them “false and irresponsible,” and condemned the rumors spreading online.
French head coach Didier Deschamps urged caution, defending Mbappe and advising against spreading unverified information. Deschamps emphasized that the French forward is mature enough to handle the situation.
