Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to present The Finance Bill, 2024, for consideration and passage in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. The Lower House will also engage in a general discussion on the Interim Union Budget for 2024-25, presented on February 1 during the ongoing Budget Session. The agenda includes a proposal to continue the existing income-tax rates for the financial year 2024-2025 and provide relief to taxpayers. Union Home Minister will move a Bill to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act, 1989, the Jammu and Kashmir Municipal Act, 2000, and the Jammu and Kashmir Municipal Corporation Act, 2000.

In the Rajya Sabha, discussions on the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address will resume, and Union Minister Arjun Munda will introduce the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Amendment) Bill, 2024, aiming to modify the list of Scheduled Tribes in relation to the State of Andhra Pradesh. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi will move a motion to suspend certain provisions for the consideration and passage of several bills, including the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Amendment) Bill, 2024, the Constitution (Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes) Order (Amendment) Bill, 2024, and the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Amendment Bill, 2024.

Additionally, Union Minister Bhupender Yadav is expected to present the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Amendment Bill, 2024, for consideration and passage in the Rajya Sabha. During Monday’s Lok Sabha session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi responded to the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address, expressing confidence in the NDA winning over 400 seats in the upcoming elections and highlighting achievements, including the construction of the Ram Temple and the abolition of Article 370.
