At the Disney D23 Expo on Friday, Disney unveiled the first footage from its eagerly awaited live-action adaptation of the 1937 animated classic Snow White. Set to premiere in theaters on March 21, 2025, the teaser clip was also shared on Disney’s official social media platforms, introducing Rachel Zegler as the iconic title character. The clip offers a blend of nostalgia and modernity, as Zegler performs a delightful rendition of “Whistle While You Work” with the dwarves in their charming home. Her joyful dance and crystal-clear vocals capture the essence of the original song.
In addition to the initial footage, Disney released a teaser trailer showcasing key moments from the film. The trailer highlights Gal Gadot as the wicked stepmother, presenting her transformation into the infamous evil witch. It also features Snow White picking apples, Gadot in a menacing crown, and a faithful recreation of the magical mirror scene. Gadot described her role as, “She’s evil, she’s magical, she’s delicious,” aiming to bring a fresh depth to the classic villain and infuse a contemporary edge into the story.
Directed by Marc Webb, known for The Amazing Spider-Man and 500 Days of Summer, the film boasts a script by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson, with Marc Platt as producer. Tony Award-winning actor Andrew Burnap joins the cast as a new male lead, introducing a new dynamic to the narrative.
The original music for the film is composed by the Oscar-winning duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, renowned for their work on La La Land. Their compositions are expected to enhance the film’s musical landscape with both classic and new, original pieces.
Staying true to the Brothers Grimm tale, the film follows Snow White as she finds refuge with seven dwarf miners after being banished into a dangerous forest by her jealous stepmother. With its blend of classic charm and modern updates, Disney’s Snow White is set to enchant audiences and add a new chapter to the beloved story’s legacy.
