Farmers demand special compensation as rainfall shortage causes loss

There has been no rainfall in the Fatehpur region for the past 35 days. Due to the absence of rain, the standing crops of farmers have been ruined. The farmers are not only disappointed with the weather but also with the government. On the one hand, the crops are damaged due to the lack of rainfall, and on the other hand, the government is not paying attention to their situation.
During a press conference on Saturday, former MLA Nand Kishor Maharia said that the government should conduct a special survey to assess the losses incurred by the farmers. He said that the district collector has issued regular survey orders, but there are no instructions related to assessing the damage. “Farmers had sown good crops this time with the hope of good rains. They have spent thousands of rupees on fertilizers, seeds, sowing, and irrigation. However, due to the absence of rain, the crops have been destroyed. In such a situation, the government should conduct a special survey and compensate for the losses. The election code of conduct will be in place next month. In such a situation, this work needs to be done sooner rather than later.”
Maharia said that this area is almost a single-crop area, and the livelihood of most farmers here depends on the Kharif crop, and with the failure of the crop, they will face economic difficulties.
