New Theatrical & OTT Releases This Weekend: Another weekend is around, and accompanying it are a series of new releases to entertain you through the weekend. This week, viewers can head out to theatres for a romantic drama—Param Sundari, starring Siddharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor— or enjoy the story of Kashmir’s first playback singer with the Songs of Paradise from the comfort of your home. 

New theatrical releases and OTT releases to watch on Netflix, Amazon Prime and more:

1. Param Sundari- Theatres

Directed by Tushar Jalota and starring Siddharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead roles, Param Sundari is a romantic comedy that explores cultural differences in a relationship. The story revolves around a North Indian man (Siddharth Malhotra) who falls in love with a South Indian (Janhvi Kapoor) and all the little bumps in their love story that come as a result of their cultural differences. The trailer for the movie was released on 12th August 2025 and garnered a lot of attention. Param Sundari is slated for a theatrical release on 29th August 2025.

2. Lokah Chapter One: Chandra- Theatres

Lokah Chapter One: Chandra is an Indian superhero movie directed by Dominic Arun with Dulquer Salmaan on board as producer. Starring Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen in lead roles, this Dominic Arun project is the first film in the Wayfarer Cinematic Universe. Lokah Chapter One: Chandra is slated for a theatrical release on 28th August.  

3. The Roses- Theatres

The Roses is a dark comedy directed by Jay Roach starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Olivia Colman, Andy Samberg, and Kate McKinnon in lead roles. The movie is an official remake of the 1989 film The War of the Roses. The story revolves around a wealthy couple whose marriage falls apart, leading to a divorce battle over materialistic possessions. The Roses is slated for a theatrical release on 29th August 2025.

4. Metro in Dino – Netflix

The Anurag Basu directorial musical romantic drama movie Metro in Dino starring an ensemble featuring Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Konkona Sen Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Ali Fazal and Fatima Sana Shaikh. The musical explores the complex love stories set in urban India. The movie had a theatrical release in July 2025 to a good response at the box office. Metro in Dino will be available to stream on Netflix from August 29th.

5. Songs of Paradise – Prime Video

Based on the life of Raj Begum, Songs of Paradise is a movie written and directed by Danish Renzu, inspired by the work of Begum, Kashmir’s first female playback singer. The movie stars Saba Azad and Soni Razdan portraying Begum across two time periods. Songs of Paradise will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on August 29th.

These were all the major releases of this week, from romantic comedies like Siddharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor’s Param Sundari to the story of Raj Begum with Songs of Paradise.
