Comedian-rapper Munawar Faruqui has revealed the deep struggles he faced during his childhood and in an interaction with Prakhar Gupta, the Bigg Boss 17 winner shared how his mother’s tragic death and his complicated relationship with his father shaped him while Faruqui spoke candidly about the hardships his mother endured, the emotional void he experienced as a teenager, and the lessons of forgiveness he learned over time.

Strained Relationship with His Father

Munawar admitted that he initially harbored anger towards his father. He said, “Initially, I was very angry at my father, but when I saw… I let my anger go.” Two years after his mother passed away, his father suffered a paralytic attack that left 80% of his body paralyzed for 11 years. Munawar said, “I thought of him as a villain, but he was still my father. You start telling yourself that he did something wrong, but he got something for it too; he’s suffering as well but” he reflected on the difficulty of hating someone who still depends on you and shared how this experience taught him forgiveness. “Iss insaan se mai kya nafrat karu? He doesn’t have anyone besides you. That situation made me forgive, and then you keep letting go of everything, and nothing affects you anymore,” he said.

His Mother’s Struggles and Tragic Death

Munawar Faruqui also spoke about his mother’s hardships during her 22-year-long marriage. He recalled, “She never got any kind of appreciation from her family. She was very patient, but that sabr has a limit.” At age 13, he learned that his mother had taken poison. He rushed to the hospital, where a nurse, a family friend from his mother’s side, helped transfer her to the ER. Sadly, she passed away. Munawar explained that he wasn’t allowed to grieve. “The very next morning after she was gone, they called me and handed me a bunch of tasks and said stuff like ‘don’t cry.’ They made me the one responsible for everything and told me that I’ve to be strong and take care of everyone.”

Journey of Inner Strength and Forgiveness

Reflecting on his emotions, Munawar said, “I don’t remember feeling sad, and I remember pretending that everything was completely normal, even during the last rites. I was crying inside, but none of that came out. I was mad at everyone, and I remembered everyone who was ever bad to my mother, but at one point I forgave them all.”

Munawar Faruqui married makeup artist Mehzabeen Coatwaala last year. He was previously married to Jasmine, with whom he shares a son, Mikael. Mehzabeen has a daughter, Samaira, from her first marriage and today, Munawar balances his personal life with his professional career while reflecting on the lessons learned from his childhood struggles.
