Pop star Britney Spears has spoken candidly about the emotional distress she endured in her brief marriage to Sam Asghari, labelling it as a “phony diversion” amid the heartache of being away from her sons.
Distance From Sons Took Emotional Toll
In a candid Instagram post, Spears, 43, revealed how being cut off from contacting her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, since their move to Hawaii with their father Kevin Federline in August 2023, left her deeply broken. “We’re just people so fragile and human. The hardest years of my life were my two sons gone for those 3 years,” she wrote, recounting her emotional turmoil during the period. Spears confessed that the breakup would most often leave her crying and in denial.
Marriage to Sam Asghari Was Like a Distraction
Britney wed Sam Asghari in June 2022, but the marriage ended just more than a year after, in August 2023. Spears revealed that the marriage, though legal, did not give her the emotional support she required. “I was denied the ability to call and text and I recall in stunned amazement my secret to survival was denial and lots of tears. It’s strange, Sam and I were married, but it seemed like a phony diversion to assist me in coping with,” she posted.
The pop sensation’s confession brought into focus the severe emotional battle she had to fight while balancing public criticism and inner sorrow. The wedlock, Spears suggested, was a temporary shelter and not a means of real comfort.
Signs of Healing and Reconnection
In spite of the ordeal, Spears explained she is recovering slowly and gaining strength. She recounted how rediscovering simple pleasures, such as eating, has been an indication of recovery. “Well I know I’m healing because I’m hungry again like a child or baby… I’m so hungry it hurts and when I eat it’s like it’s my first time ever eating in my life,” Spears explained.
Her Instagram post also contained a naked photo of herself, which gained immediate popularity, with her garnering over 150,000 likes, fans hailing her for her openness and candor regarding her struggles.
