On Tuesday, Mumbai police arrested a 32-year-old engineer for posting a bomb threat on social media related to Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding. The accused, Viral Shah, a resident of Vadodara, was apprehended by the crime branch from his Gujarat residence.
The social media post, made by user @FFSFIR, suggested that a bomb at the wedding could disrupt the global economy. The post read, “A shameless thought crept into my mind that if a bomb went off at Ambani’s wedding, half the world would turn upside down. Trillions of dollars in one pin code.”
After a concerned citizen tipped off the authorities, police deemed the threat a hoax but increased security measures around the wedding venue at the Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai. Following an investigation, the suspect was traced to Vadodara, and a Mumbai crime branch team apprehended him.
Anant Ambani, youngest son of industrialist Mukesh Ambani, married Radhika Merchant, daughter of pharma tycoons Viren and Shaila Merchant, at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex on July 12. The star-studded event featured celebrities, businessmen, billionaires, and top politicians, including Mukesh Ambani’s younger brother Anil Ambani and his wife Tina Ambani. The wedding festivities lasted a week.
