Former US President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that he will meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during Modi’s upcoming visit to the United States from September 21 to 23. Trump made the remark while campaigning in Michigan, praising PM Modi as “fantastic.” However, he did not provide further details about their meeting.
During his visit, PM Modi will participate in the Quad Summit and address the ‘Summit of the Future’ at the United Nations General Assembly in New York. This marks the fourth Quad Leaders’ Summit, hosted by US President Joe Biden in Wilmington, Delaware. Additionally, Modi is scheduled to address the Indian community in New York on Sunday.
At the UN, he will focus on “Multilateral Solutions for a Better Tomorrow” during the Summit of the Future. The Prime Minister will also engage with CEOs of major US companies to enhance collaboration in areas like AI, quantum computing, semiconductors, and biotechnology, as highlighted by the foreign ministry. Furthermore, he is expected to meet with thought leaders and stakeholders involved in the India-US bilateral relationship.
This meeting will be their first since February 2020, when Trump visited India, which PM Modi described as a “path-breaking” moment for strengthening ties between the two countries.
