Dengue fever is spreading in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagaj district. So far, at least 36 people are believed to have died as a result of dengue in Prayagraj.
According to unconfirmed reports, over 36 people died in Prayagraj recently as a result of dengue. However, no government agency is providing official data on dengue deaths. Furthermore, a large number of people in Prayagraj are still infected with Dengue.
The severity of the situation that arose as a result of the dengue outbreak can be understood by the fact that a school was ordered to close for one day after a number of students were found to be infected with this disease.
Nanak Sharan, the chief medical officer (CMO) of Prayagraj, stated that insecticides were being sprayed to eliminate mosquitos in order to combat dengue fever in the district.
However, Rajyasabha MP Pramod Tiwari blamed the Yogi government for the dengue outbreak in the district.
Instead of taking concrete steps to combat dengue in Prayagraj and other parts of the state, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his cabinet colleagues, he claims, are busy campaigning in Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat. Between January and September of this year, the state reported more than 18,000 dengue cases and two deaths, compared to 11,097 cases and three deaths during the same period in 2021.
This past Monday, Lucknow reported 23 new cases, bringing the yearly total of vector-borne diseases to 911 with one fatality. A 48-year-old sports instructor from Sarojini Nagar in Lucknow passed away from dengue on Monday after receiving three days of treatment at Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS). Here, there have been two dengue-related fatalities.
On Tuesday, Bareilly officially reported the first dengue-related death. On October 25, a 45-year-old lady was identified as having dengue and was receiving treatment at a private medical institution, where she passed just a week later. On Tuesday night, her death was formally recorded in the health department’s database. 25 dengue cases have been documented so far this season, compared to 1650 malaria cases.
