Security arrangements were significantly intensified across several examination centres in the national capital on Sunday as authorities made elaborate preparations for the smooth conduct of the NEET-UG re-examination.

At the CM SHRI School in Pandara Road, one of the examination centres, police personnel were deployed in strength and strict access control measures were put in place to ensure a fair and incident-free examination.

Alongside the heightened security, the Delhi government set up special cooling zones outside the centre to provide relief to students and their families amid the prevailing summer heat.

Special waiting arrangements were also made for the convenience of candidates, parents and accompanying family members.

The NEET-UG re-examination is being held amid heightened scrutiny following allegations of a paper leak in the original examination. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is probing the case, has made several arrests.

More than 22.79 lakh candidates are expected to appear for the examination at 5,440 centres across 551 cities in India and 14 centres abroad.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan expressed confidence in the National Testing Agency (NTA), state governments and stakeholders associated with the education sector, and extended his best wishes to students appearing for the examination.

He urged candidates to take the test without worry or fear, expressing hope that the examination would be conducted smoothly.

Authorities across the country have put in place extensive security and logistical measures for the fair conduct of the examination, with the focus on maintaining transparency and preventing any irregularities.
