In a significant development, the Delhi High Court on Monday dismissed Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s plea challenging his arrest by the CBI in the Excise Policy case. The court also denied his bail application in the same matter.

The bench of Justices Neena Bansal Krishna upheld the legality of Kejriwal’s arrest, stating that it was based on justifiable grounds. The court’s decision comes after a series of hearings where both the Delhi government and the CBI presented their arguments.

Kejriwal’s legal team had contended that the arrest was an “insurance arrest” without sufficient evidence and sought to highlight the alleged political nature of the case. However, the CBI maintained that Kejriwal was the “sutradhar” of the excise policy scam and presented evidence to support their claims.

The court’s decision is likely to have far-reaching implications for the ongoing political and legal battle surrounding the Excise Policy case.
