The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) addressed the issue on Friday, emphasizing the complexity of the deaths of Indian students in the United States, attributing them to multiple causes. They stated that investigations into the recent two cases are ongoing, with Indian authorities actively engaging with US authorities to ensure justice is sought.
Speaking at a weekly press briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shed light on the unfortunate incidents involving Indian-origin students in the US. Jaiswal revealed that since January, there have been approximately 10 Indian student fatalities, with two cases currently under scrutiny. The MEA has been actively liaising with consulates to provide assistance and support to affected families.
Jaiswal underscored the importance of addressing not only law and order issues but also broader community concerns such as mental health and suicide prevention. Efforts are being intensified to reach out to the Indian student community in the US, offering them comfort and assistance during these challenging times.
