A CRPF Inspector was martyred on Monday during a terrorist ambush targeting an area domination patrol party of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and local police at Chill, Dudu, in Udhampur district.

Initial reports indicate that the encounter erupted when joint security forces were conducting routine patrols in the area. The terrorists, who had been lying in wait, ambushed the forces, resulting in the tragic loss of the CRPF Inspector. The operation to neutralize the attackers is ongoing, with security forces launching a massive cordon and search operation in the region.

The Udhampur Police, through an official statement on X, stated “An information received through reliable sources during routine patrolling of CRPF 187 Battalion in Cheel Areas of Ramnagar District Udhampur. Unfortunately, 30/40 rounds of firing occurred on the patrolling party of CRPF 187 Battalion, in which one inspector, Sh. Kuldeep, was dead on the spot.”

This attack follows an incident in the Basantgarh area of Udhampur just days ago, where terrorists engaged security forces in a gunfight before managing to escape. The recent surge in militant activity has heightened security concerns in the region, known for its challenging terrain and history of sporadic violence.

In response to the attack, additional troops have been deployed to reinforce the cordon and search operations, ensuring the terrorists do not escape. The Union government is closely monitoring the situation as the operation continues. Local authorities have urged residents to remain indoors until the situation is fully under control.

Further updates on the operation and the evolving situation are awaited.
