08th June 2024: In a significant move to safeguard the state’s security, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has terminated four government employees under Article 311(2)(c) of the Indian Constitution. These employees were found to have links with Pakistan’s ISI and various terror outfits. This decision follows an exhaustive investigation that revealed their involvement in anti-national activities. This action is part of Sinha’s broader zero-tolerance policy against terrorism, which has resulted in the dismissal of over 50 such employees to date.
Details of the terminated employees:
1. Abdul Rehman Dar (Constable, J&K Police)
- Background: Dar, a native of Tral in Pulwama District, joined the J&K Police in 2002. Over his career, he was posted in various locations, including Srinagar, Kargil, and Budgam.
- Involvement: Dar was discovered to have close associations with Over Ground Workers (OGWs) of terror outfits. Notably, in 2020, Dar’s involvement was exposed when security forces arrested several individuals linked to Al-Badr, from whom illegal arms were recovered. Dar was implicated in aiding these activities by supplying arms and ammunition.
- Consequences: His continuation in the police force posed a severe security risk, given his deep-seated sympathies for terrorist ideologies and his role in transporting arms.
2. Anayatullah Shah Pirzada (Assistant Lineman, Jal Shakti Department)
- Background: Pirzada was appointed in 1995 and worked in various capacities within the Jal Shakti Department. He is a resident of Rafiabad, Baramulla.
- Involvement: Pirzada was an associate of Al-Badr Mujahideen, assisting terrorist groups by providing logistical support, accommodation, and fake identity documents. His role included aiding infiltrators from across the border.
- Consequences: His ties with high-ranking terrorist commanders made him a significant threat to state security, leading to his dismissal.
3. Ghulam Rasool Bhat (Constable, J&K Police)
- Background: Bhat, recruited in 2011, served as an Assistant Kote NCO in Budgam, where he managed the armoury.
- Involvement: Bhat’s radical ideology surfaced during interrogations. He exploited his position to repair and supply weapons to terrorists, making him a critical asset for terror networks.
- Consequences: His actions in the armoury posed a direct threat to national security, warranting his removal from the police force.
4. Shabeer Ahmad Wani (Teacher, School Education Department)
- Background: Wani, from Bungam D.H. Pora, Kulgam, was engaged under the Rehbar-e-Taleem scheme in 2004 and later regularised as a teacher.
- Involvement: Wani, an active member of the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI), played a significant role in fostering secessionism and supporting terror networks, particularly Hizbul Mujahideen. He was involved in organizing and leading violent protests and riots.
- Consequences: His participation in anti-national activities and instigating violence led to his detention under the Public Safety Act. His actions as a teacher compromised the educational environment and posed a threat to peace and security.
These dismissals underscore the Lieutenant Governor’s commitment to eradicating terror influences within government ranks, ensuring that those who betray their country and colleagues are held accountable.
