Class 12 Students Suspended for Dangerous Prank on Teacher

A group of Class 12 students detonated a firecracker-like explosive under their science teacher’s chair as a prank. They reportedly learned to make the device using YouTube. The teacher escaped without injuries, but the act led to serious consequences.

What Happened?

The students carried out the prank after their teacher scolded them. One student placed the homemade explosive under the teacher’s chair. Another student used a remote control to detonate it, causing a loud explosion. Fortunately, the teacher was not harmed.

Immediate Action

The Haryana education department quickly took action. They suspended 13 students involved in the prank for a week. Officials visited the school to investigate and assess the situation.

Parents and Community Intervene

Initially, school authorities considered expelling the students. However, parents apologized and submitted a written promise that the students would not repeat such behavior. A panchayat meeting was also held in the village to address the issue. It was revealed that 13 out of 15 students in the class were aware of the plan.

Teacher Shows Forgiveness

Despite the alarming nature of the incident, the teacher forgave the students. District Education Officer Naresh Mehta remarked, “If these children had made a model and presented it, we would have honoured them, but now this matter has been settled with a warning. These children had learned all this from YouTube.”

Lessons for the Future

This incident underscores the dangers of misusing online platforms like YouTube. It also highlights the importance of guiding students toward positive, creative activities instead of harmful actions. The school has vowed to monitor student behavior more closely moving forward.
