In Shanghai, China, a burglar targeted a shop on May 17th and left behind a surprising message for the owner, urging them to upgrade their security system. Reports indicate that the thief, known as Sang, climbed the building’s outer wall to gain entry, where he stole a watch and an Apple MacBook.
After entering the premises, Sang gathered laptops and cell phones, neatly arranging them on a desk. He left a note in a notebook placed prominently among the electronics, stating, “Dear boss, I took a wristwatch and a laptop. You should improve your anti-theft system. I did not take all the phones and laptops, fearing it might hurt your business.”
Adding an unusual twist, the thief left his contact number at the end of the message, offering to return the stolen laptop and phone upon request. Police utilized this phone number and public surveillance footage to track down Sang, who was apprehended while attempting to leave Shanghai on a train. Authorities recovered the stolen items from him, leading to his arrest.
In another incident in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, a burglar broke into a doctor’s locked home and made himself comfortable by turning on the air conditioning to rest. Intoxicated, he fell asleep during the break-in. Concerned neighbors noticed the open door in the morning, prompting them to enter and find the house in disarray. They immediately alerted the police, who arrived to find Kapil, the burglar, asleep amidst the stolen items.
Kapil was taken into custody and charged under IPC section 379 A for theft.
