In a significant boost to the industrial development of Bundelkhand, the Sagar Regional Industry Conclave, held on September 27, 2024, received investment proposals totaling Rs. 23,181 crores. These proposals are set to create 27,375 employment opportunities, with key projects planned for the region.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, while addressing the event, emphasized that the state government is fully committed to transforming Bundelkhand into a developed region. He assured that even the smallest entrepreneurs would receive government support, reaffirming the administration’s dedication to inclusive economic growth.
Dr. Yadav announced the development of a silver cluster in Sagar to support local silver craftsmen, and revealed plans to establish Khajuraho as a film city, aiming to boost tourism and creative industries in the area. He also outlined the importance of the Ken-Betwa river-linking project, which will expand irrigation coverage across 2.5 lakh hectares of Bundelkhand, significantly enhancing agricultural productivity and improving the livelihood of farmers in the region. Additionally, the Chief Minister disclosed that an airport would be built in Sagar, which will expand aviation infrastructure and open up further employment prospects.
During the conclave, Dr. Yadav virtually inaugurated the Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIIDC) office in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, and issued letters of intent to 96 industrial units, allocating 240 acres of land. This will bring investments worth Rs. 1,560 crores and generate over 5,900 jobs. Among the notable investment proposals were Pacific Meta-Steel’s Rs. 3,200 crore integrated steel plant in Nivadi, expected to create 10,000 jobs, and Bansal Group’s Rs. 1,350 crore investment in super-specialty hospitals, a five-star hotel, and the energy sector. The Sagar Group committed Rs. 1,400 crores to the dyeing and processing sector, while Madhya Bharat Agro pledged Rs. 500 crores in Sagar’s Banda area. Foreign dignitaries, including Mongolia’s Ambassador Ganbold Dambajav and Thailand’s Consul General Donnawit Poolsawat, were also present at the conclave, signaling international interest in the region’s industrial potential.
