This decision followed the most extensive bidding process in the history of the FIFA Women’s World Cup and was determined through an open vote at the FIFA Congress for the first time. Brazil secured 119 votes, surpassing the joint bid of Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany, which received 78 votes.
