In the 2020 Bihar Legislative Assembly election for the Nautan constituency, Narayan Prasad of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured victory with 78,657 votes, capturing 46.97% of the total vote share, marking an increase of 2.62% from the previous election. Sheikh Kamran of the Indian National Congress (INC) came in second with 52,761 votes, accounting for 31.51% of the votes.
Independent candidate Manorama Prasad received 15,421 votes (9.21%), followed by Nandkishor Prasad of the RLSP with 4,587 votes (2.74%). Other independent candidates included Vikash Kumar Prasad, who polled 3,967 votes (2.37%), and Shubham Kumar Dubey, who secured 1,824 votes (1.09%). The NOTA (None of the Above) option received 1,813 votes, constituting 1.08%, a decrease of 0.54% from the previous election.
