Bengaluru police apprehended a 29-year-old woman from Rajasthan on charges of stealing laptops from numerous paying guest facilities throughout the city since 2022.

According to Bengaluru Police Commissioner, B Dayananda, “The woman identified as Jassu Agarwal was arrested with 24 laptops worth Rs 10 lakh.”

Sharing details about the thefts, the Police Commissioner said, “A laptop, charger and mouse were stolen from a rented house under the HAL police station and a case was registered at the HAL police station in October last year.”

The official added that a thorough investigation into the case was conducted, leading to the arrest of the accused woman, who was subsequently questioned extensively.

Following this, the woman, identified as Jassu Agarwal, was apprehended with 24 laptops valued at Rs 10 lakh. The stolen items included three laptop cases from HAL stations in Koramangala and Indiranagar.

According to reports, the woman from Rajasthan carried out the thefts in paying guest (PG) accommodations located near software company hubs and PG areas across the city, including Tin Factory, Marathahalli, Bellandur, Silkboard, Hebbal, Whitefield, Mahadevapura, and others.

During the investigation, it emerged that the stolen laptops were being sold by the accused to laptop stores in Marathahalli, Yelahanka, and Hebbal, as stated by the official. The Deputy Commissioner of Police for the Whitefield Division, Sivakumar, with the support of the HAL Police Inspector and other team members, successfully solved the case against the accused.
