Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Bansuri Swaraj stated on Wednesday that the INDIA bloc defends and shields ‘corrupt and rapists,’ labelling it an alliance that is both anti-women and anti-social.

Speaking to ANI, Swaraj said, “I.N.D.I.A. alliance is an alliance that only supports and protects the corrupt and the rapists. This is an anti-women and anti-social alliance. Despite having a woman chief minister in West Bengal, TMC leaders dishonoured the mothers and sisters in Sandeshkhali in the TMC office.”

She also remarked that the rape and murder of the doctor in Kolkata is a deeply shocking incident that has shaken the conscience of the people.

“The Kolkata rape and murder incident of the doctor has left souls trembling in the country. A couple of days ago, a 15-year-old girl was also raped by an SP leader in Uttar Pradesh. The Congress party does not even take a minute when it comes to raising the slogans of ‘Ladki hoon, Lad Sakti hoon,’ but when it comes to incidents in places like West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and even Delhi, they fall silent,” she said.

She further stated that it seems the opposition has neglected their responsibilities while engaging in their battle with the government.

She said, “The opposition has forgotten their duties and have brought shame to the nation. They keep maintaining silence and also support the criminals who commit gruesome acts. Their work speaks for itself.”

Earlier today, Union Minister and West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar remarked that no woman MP from the TMC has addressed the murder and rape of the Kolkata doctor. He said that, despite being graduates of the same medical college, two TMC MPs and three MLAs have remained silent, suggesting that “something is amiss.”
