On Saturday night, police confiscated substantial quantities of illegal drugs and apprehended one woman in two separate operations in Assam’s Karimganj and Guwahati.
Karimganj district police recovered 110 packets of Yaba tablets worth Rs 10 lakh in the Badarpur region during the first operation.

Bijay Goswami, a Badarpur police officer, confirmed the incident and said, “On Saturday night, we launched a search operation in the Badarpur area based on confidential information. When we arrived, a drug peddler named Dilwar Hussain noticed the police team and fled by throwing a bag. We discovered 110 packets of Yaba pills in the luggage and searched his home. The market value of the seized narcotics is estimated to be around Rs 10 lakh.

A team from Guwahati’s Hatigaon police station conducted a search operation at a rented house in the Hatigaon area on Saturday night and seized 69 soap cases filled with suspected heroin, Rs 7,56,680 in cash, four mobile phones, three car keys, and one vehicle from the house.

A woman was also apprehended by the police.
“On Saturday night, a team from the Hatigaon police station visited the Namghor Path area and discovered five rented houses. In addition, the landlord was unable to offer complete information about his tenants. While going through each house, one resident named Babu was discovered, but he couldn’t present any proof of his identification. The individual in question was staying in the rented room with his companion. The said person Babu informed that his documents were in his car parked downstairs,” Guwahati Commissioner of Police Diganta Borah said.

“As a result, he was sent downstairs, but he escaped by taking advantage of the darkness. Later, the rented room was examined, and 69 soap containers containing suspected heroin, Rs 7,56,680 in cash, four mobile phones, three car keys, and one vehicle were discovered. Pahi Das, the partner of alleged Babu alias Rafiq, has been caught. An effort is being made to locate the fugitive alleged accused,” the Commissioner of Police added.
