Hosa means `new’ in Kannada and this slow-dining artsy luxury restaurant nestled in Siolim, Goa echoes what it’s christened as!
A venture of the lovable minds behind the famous Indian Accent in Delhi, Hosa is a perfect blend of contemporary modern art and earthy South Indian flavours. With a menu specially designed by Chef Suresh DC, the restaurant offers a soothing delectable experience and its vast menu of fusion dishes is bound to leave you with a finger licking experience!
After soaking in the tour, our next stop was at Hosa’s uber chic bar! We were greeted by Tanisha and she offered to curate us some refreshing drinks to sip on. We started with their classics: Hosa 75 and the Kokum Cola! A refreshing and fruity drink, the signature Hosa 75 was a mix of peach infused gin, lychee, hibiscus, green apple liqueur, and some sparkling wine, and trust us – if tasted all things great! Next up we had the famous Kokum Cola which felt like a masala coke but in a fine, warmly lit space! The drink was refreshing and instantly filled us with energy.
We also sipped on their low calorie Gun Fizz Powder cocktail that was as aromatic as it could get and we loved the glass-rim covered with gunpowder! It was a blend of gin, vanilla, gunpowder mix, and mango & fig botanical water and was a perfect fit with the meals! The Virgin Panakam was the mocktail version of their refreshing rum Panakam. This drink was loaded with ginger, cardamom, lime, and loads of mint and went perfect with our appetisers!
For starters, we had a tsunami of food and we loved each wave of it! We had the Almond 65 which had a base of finely made curd rice topped with tangy, spicy almond fritters. The chewy curd rice with fried crunchy almonds was just the right texture! The Vada Kari was Hosa’s unique version of South Indian tacos! Made in akki roti with a filling of masala peanuts seasoned with lime, the dish was super flavourful.
Next up they served Edamame Paniyaram which were fluffy appes but with pineapple coconut and chilli tomato chutneys. Trust us, the pineapple chutney was too good and we ended up eating all of it!
For all the meat lovers – Hosa has an amazing range of chicken and mutton dishes! We started with Gowda Fried Chicken which was cooked the Bangalore way! Served with creamy cucumber and curry leaf, the chicken was done full and was tender and flavourful to hog on. Their Pulimunchi Wings were delectable and spicy and were stuffed with byadgi chillies and curry leaf! Be aware, this dish is not for the light hearted because it will surely spice up your taste buds!
We also feasted on their Mutton Pepper Roast which was so biteful and appetizing that we couldn’t stop! The dish was a blend of minced meat, coconut, garlic, and spices and was served with a cute little bun parotta—which we are in love with!
After such appetizing and heart-filling appetizers, it was time for some main course! For the main course, we ordered their Wild Mushroom Varaval which was Hosa’s take on the Pongal rice. The dish was seasoned with black pepper and herb oil and was served with ghee roasted pepper mushrooms which tasted oh so beautiful! The Varaval felt homely and comforting and was just the right large plate we needed on a rainy day in Goa!
We also had their bestselling Goat Ghee Roast which turned out to be the best version of a mutton roast we ever feasted on! Loaded with tuluva spices and desi ghee, the mutton was cooked to perfection and left our mouths oozing with flavours and craving for more! It was served with a ghee dosa that was crispy and was a perfect accompaniment with the soft goat roast!
We ended our gastronomic day with some sweet dishes and how could we not try the world-famous Mysore Pak?! But Hosa being a definition of newness, made us try their Mysore Pak Coffee Cheesecake! Layered with mysore pak, chickpea fudge, corn crumble, and ghee crema, this dish was a perfect concoction of desi OG mithaai and some coffee cream! This tasted heaven and we totally wanted some more! We also savoured their Coconut & Jasmine Sorbet which was a mix of coconut ice cream and jasmine sorbet accompanied with some crumble. While the coconut ice-cream felt refreshing, the jasmine sorbet on the top added the perfect fragrant floral notes to the dish!
We would recommend you to book a table outdoors or near the art exhibit in Hosa whenever you’re in Goa next. Trust us, this place won’t disappoint you offer you artsy views with sophisticated, yummy tinges of food!
