Union Home Minister Amit Shah has accused the Congress party of pushing the nation’s youth into the “dark world of drugs” following a significant drug bust in Delhi. The operation uncovered a consignment valued at Rs 5,600 crore, leading to the arrest of Tushar Goyal, the main accused.
The raid, conducted in south Delhi, resulted in the seizure of over 500 kg of cocaine and 40 kg of hydroponic marijuana. Tushar Goyal, identified as the alleged kingpin behind this major drug operation, was arrested during the investigation.
In response to Shah’s accusations, the Congress party has denied any connections to Tushar Goyal. The party has distanced itself from the allegations, asserting that it has no ties to the accused individual.
In a post on X, Shah emphasized the Modi government’s commitment to a “zero tolerance” policy towards drugs, contrasting it with what he described as Congress’s alleged facilitation of drug trafficking. He stated, “While the Modi government is adopting a zero-tolerance policy for a ‘Drug-Free India,’ the involvement of a prominent Congress leader in the Rs 5,600 crore drug consignment seized from North India is extremely dangerous and shameful.”
Shah highlighted the detrimental effects of drug abuse on youth in states like Punjab and Haryana during the Congress regime. He asserted that the Modi government is focused on guiding the youth towards education, sports, and innovation, rather than drugs.
Shah further accused Congress leaders of using their political influence to perpetuate drug trafficking, stating, “The sin of Congress leaders using their political influence to push the youth into the quagmire of drugs will never be allowed to succeed by the Modi government.” He reiterated the government’s commitment to dismantling the entire drug network, regardless of the political affiliations of those involved.
Despite Congress’s denial of any links to Tushar Goyal, reports indicate that Goyal admitted during questioning to having served as the chairman of the RTI cell for Delhi Pradesh Congress until 2022. Investigators also found that Goyal maintained a social media profile where he identified himself as the RTI Cell Chairman, Delhi Pradesh Congress, and posted photos with several prominent Congress leaders, including Lok Sabha MP Deepender Singh Hooda and Haryana unit chief Uday Bhan.
