AAP Slams BJP Over Hardeep Puri’s 2022 Rohingya Refugee Statement

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) escalated its condemnation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) following a two-year-old tweet by Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, alleging that the ruling party is relocating Rohingya refugees to Delhi. In the August 2022 tweet, Puri declared that Rohingya refugees would be relocated to EWS flats in the Bakkarwala area, with essential services, UNHCR IDs, and security provided by Delhi Police.

AAP reacted to the tweet, claiming that the BJP is behind the relocation of Rohingyas in the capital. “Check this tweet from Hardeep Puri ji, a cabinet minister in the Modi government. You will find out who has brought the Rohingyas to Delhi, who has settled them, and where! This is the deceit, nature, and face of the two-faced snake BJP,” AAP asserted.

Previously, AAP launched a robust attack on the BJP-led central government and Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the deteriorating law and order in Delhi. AAP National Spokesperson Kakkar urged the central government to “wake up from its slumber” and concentrate on enhancing law and order in Delhi, commenting, “The people of Delhi have chosen two governments – the Arvind Kejriwal government to deal with matters like electricity, health, and education. They have voted for 7 BJP MPs to better law and order, yet the situation is worsening. ”

AAP also took aim at Amit Shah, blaming him for not tackling law and order problems, stating, “As long as Amit Shah remains the Home Minister, the murders will keep occurring every day in Delhi. ” Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal echoed this view, asserting, “Amit Shah ji has destroyed Delhi. He has turned Delhi into a lawless state. ”

Delhi CM Atishi also criticized the BJP-led administration, pointing out the rising violence in the city and the central government’s inadequacy in ensuring proper security. Referring to recent events, such as the murder of a constable and a shooting in Shahdara, Atishi remarked, “The BJP-ruled central government has a singular duty in Delhi, which is to maintain law and order there. They have utterly failed in this responsibility. ”

These remarks followed a series of violent episodes in the city, including the stabbing deaths of a family in Neb Sarai on December 4 and an explosion in Prashant Vihar on November 28.
