Preparations for the 75th Republic Day celebration were underway at Kartavya Path in the national capital on Friday morning, with armed forces contingents marching to drumbeats. The rehearsals, which began on January 13, are scheduled to continue until January 21, demonstrating the precision and discipline of the participating groups.

The Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory cautioning the public about potential route restrictions during the dress rehearsals. Specific areas such as Kartavya Path-Rafi Marg Crossing, Kartavya Path-Janpath Crossing, Kartavya Path-Mansingh Road Crossing, and Kartavya Path-C-Hexagon will face traffic restrictions from 10:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on designated dates. Kartavya Path, spanning from Vijay Chowk to India Gate, will be closed for traffic during this period.

French President Emmanuel Macron is slated to be the chief guest for the Republic Day celebrations, marking the sixth occasion of a French leader holding this position. Notably, the Border Security Force’s (BSF) all-women marching and brass band contingents will make history by participating in the parade on Kartavya Path.

An Assistant Commandant rank woman officer, along with two subordinate officers, will lead 144 women BSF constables down Kartavya Path on January 26. Additionally, the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Republic Day Camp 2024 will witness the participation of 2,274 cadets from all states and union territories, with a notable increase in the representation of girl cadets.

As the nation gears up for the grand celebration, the Delhi police have heightened vigilance in the national capital. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation announced intensified security checks by the Central Industrial Security Force at metro stations from Friday to January 27, potentially leading to increased queues during peak hours. These measures aim to ensure a secure and smooth Republic Day commemoration.
