Is 7- second coffee for weight loss a myth? Or does it really help? Experts explain.

Every day, each person is grinding themselves with a will to reach their desired goals. For bodily goals like weight loss, people tend to put their faith on social media, which isn’t completely wrong but since our bodies are built different we need to resolve it in a way that suits our body the best. This more likely gives better and healthier results.

Weight loss trends on social media were always at peak. From 2-2-2- technique to diabetic drug, each one might look promising but switching to these might led to the downfall of your health. With a new trend being introduced, people are questioning if it is safe to opt for.

What is ‘7-second loophole for weight loss’?

According to the trends, the idea is to consume black coffee with cinnamon or lemon within seven seconds of feeling hungry. This results in reducing appetite. This looks promising but is it really helpful?

Dietician Veena V from Aster Whitefield Hospital in Bangalore explained the principle behind the 7-second loophole. According to Veena, this concept is about physiological effects of caffeine, particularly how it affects the release of certain hunger-related hormones like adrenaline and dopamine.

When a person consumes black coffee, the caffeine content stimulates the secretion of these hormones. Adrenaline, often referred to as the “fight or flight” hormone, and dopamine, known as the “feel-good” hormone, play significant roles in the body’s response to various stimuli. The release of these hormones has a twofold effect: it suppresses appetite and enhances metabolic rate. By curbing hunger, individuals may experience reduced calorie intake, while the boosted metabolism helps in more efficient fat burning. This combination of appetite suppression and increased metabolic activity ultimately supports weight loss efforts, reported Veena V explains.

This can lead to an imbalanced diet, distracting people from switching to healthy options. This definitely helps in weight loss but it is unhealthy to solely depend on this technique.
