eplus-wrapper\"><span class=\"s2\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">In recent years more and more of us have started to consider ourselves spiritual. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3 eplus-wrapper\"><span class=\"s2\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">In fact, a 2017 survey found that in the USA 75% of Americans define themselves as spiritual, with 27% deeming themselves spiritual without a specific religious belief. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3 eplus-wrapper\"><span class=\"s2\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">And yet, we spiritual folk regularly fall victim to myths and misconceptions. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3 eplus-wrapper\"><span class=\"s2\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">I have a friend who wears a pentagram, and if I were paid a dollar for the number of times she has been side-eyed or asked if she worships the Devil, though I wouldn&rsquo;t be able to retire, I would certainly be able to indulge in a fancy meal or two!&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Oh, she doesn't worship the devil by the way &#128578;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3 eplus-wrapper\"><span class=\"s2\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">All this got me thinking, and after consulting with friends, family, and various blogs and articles, I&rsquo;ve compiled a list of some of the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">most common myths\/misconception<\/span>s around being spiritual.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Here we are&hellip;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div I myself am certainly not gifted with the flexibility required for more than a downward-facing dog!<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"p4 wp-block-heading eplus-wrapper\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Myth_3_Spiritual_People_all_Dress_like_Hippies\"><\/span><strong>Myth #3: Spiritual People all Dress like Hippies<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3 eplus-wrapper\"><span class=\"s2\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Though my fiance loves to don a pair of harem pants in hot summer months, I know that some of my other spiritual friends would view this beloved item of clothing of hers as a crime against fashion, me being one of them!<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3 eplus-wrapper\"><span class=\"s2\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Put simply, spiritual people <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">do not<\/span> conform to a specific dress code. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3 eplus-wrapper\"><span class=\"s2\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">While some may choose to dress with a hippy or even a &lsquo;witchy&rsquo; vibe, many more of us dress to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">our own personal style<\/span>, whether this includes <em>harem pants<\/em> and <em>wide-brimmed hats<\/em> or not! <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"p4 wp-block-heading eplus-wrapper\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Myth_4_Spiritual_People_Avoid_Animal_Products\"><\/span><strong>Myth #4: Spiritual People Avoid Animal Products<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3 eplus-wrapper\"><span class=\"s2\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">While many aspects of spiritual living do align with the reduction or refusal of animal products, such as <em>veganism<\/em> or <em>vegetarianism<\/em>, adhering to this lifestyle certainly <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">isn&rsquo;t a prerequisite for being spiritual. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3 eplus-wrapper\"><span class=\"s2\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Many spiritual people do feel strongly about avoiding animal products, while others strive for more sustainable agriculture. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3 eplus-wrapper\"><span class=\"s2\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Basically, just like with all societal groups there is a sliding scale of opinions, with some for, some against, and most of us floating around in the middle. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"p4 wp-block-heading eplus-wrapper\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Myth_5_Spiritual_People_Conform_to_a_Religion_or_a_Standardized_Set_of_Beliefs\"><\/span><strong>Myth #5: Spiritual People Conform to a Religion or a Standardized Set of Beliefs<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3 eplus-wrapper\"><span class=\"s2\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The belief that you need to be religious or must follow a prescribed belief system is probably one of the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">most widespread<\/span> and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">desperately untrue<\/span> assumptions that spiritual persons face. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3 eplus-wrapper\"><span class=\"s2\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Note in the introduction to this article that <\/span><a data-lasso-id=\"739\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Irreligion_in_the_United_States\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">27% of Americans are spiritual without a religion.<\/span><\/a><span class=\"s2\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3 eplus-wrapper\"><span class=\"s2\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Being spiritual is much <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">more of a <em>lifestyle<\/em> than a religion<\/span>. <\/span><span class=\"s2\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">It is deeply personal and aligns with who you are as a person and your unique outlook upon life. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3 eplus-wrapper\"><span class=\"s2\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">There is no &lsquo;one size fits all&rsquo; spiritualist ideal.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">In fact, many people, forge <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">their own customized spiritual path<\/span>. I personally don't follow any religious beliefs but instead, use my spirituality to gently <em>guide<\/em> my day-to-day life.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"p4 wp-block-heading eplus-wrapper\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Myth_6_Those_that_are_Spiritual_are_Obsessed_with_%E2%80%98Finding_Themselves\"><\/span><strong>Myth #6. Those that are Spiritual are Obsessed with &lsquo;Finding Themselves&rsquo;<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3 eplus-wrapper\"><span class=\"s2\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Aren&rsquo;t we all whether we realize it or not?
