You got to admit it, when you have a tidy uncluttered home you have a tidy uncluttered mind. There's a real satisfaction when everything has its place and has a purpose.
A few times time a year I have to take the time to clear my home from the unused items and junk that naturally builds-up.
Like most people over time stuff just builds up and accumulates and you may not realize it but it can start to clog up your mind and soul.
I personally find there is some real benefits in throwing away stuff I don't need anymore.
Here are some benefits you can experience when you have a declutter:
- Reduced stress and anxiety.
- Improved sleep (it's easier to sleep with a clear mind).
- Boosted productivity and creativity.
- The home becomes easier to clean and tidy.
- There's more space to live in.
- Feel good if you give away any of the items to people in need.
- Boost your mood and self-esteem.
- Sense of accomplishment.
Above all that, the thing I love the most about removing the clutter from the home is the real sense of peace and balance I get.
Trust me, you'll see what I mean when you do it.
So let's get started.
The first thing to mention is when doing a declutter, it usually takes longer than expected, so plan a few hours and do a room at a time.
That way you won't feel overwhelmed when you do it.
You could just knock off a few items of this list a day but it'll take much longer.
I recommend picking one room each Saturday or Sunday morning and do it over the space of a few weeks.
Whichever way you do it, you're going to feel the rewards.
Also, I know the feeling of worry you can get when you go to throw stuff away that you think one day you may still use (even though it's been sitting there collecting dust for 18 months).
A few things to ask yourself to help with the process of throwing away things without guilt is to ask some quick, honest questions.
Do I use this?
Is this making my life better?
Is this making my life easier?
Is this item still any good?
If I didn't own this would I actually buy this today?
Asking those questions helps you be realistic and feel good about throwing away those unneeded things.
To be honest, you may end up like me and once you get going there's no stopping you.
Anyway, enough of me talking, it's over to you.
Have fun and leave a comment and let me know how you feel after going through this list and having a good declutter.
