If you’ve visited this site more than once, or are generally spiritually-minded then you probably know about the 7 chakras of the human body, and even of the chakras that connect to the body which sit outside the human form.
But did you know that our very own mother earth has her own chakras?
In this article, we’ll be taking a closer look at this planets 7 earth chakras; exploring their locations, why they are positioned here, and what this means for the location in question.
So buckle up, because we’re about to travel the globe in search of the 7 earth chakras!
What Are Earth Chakras?
As a spiritual individual, you probably know about sacred sites around the globe.
These are places to which people have been seemingly inexplicably drawn to for pilgrimage, restoration, rejuvenation, or answers.
While many of these sites such as Mecca or Bethlehem certainly have religious connections, other places; like Glastonbury Tor – a place which I have always loved and been drawn to, compel people towards them for unclear reasons.
There are many schools of thought for why certain places may ‘call’ to us, but as the chakras are all about energy centers, let’s focus our attention here.
It’s thought that energy centers are dotted across the world in a pattern and that our ancestors were so attuned to this, that they created great monuments on hot spots, such as Stonehenge, or the Pyramids of Giza.
These monuments served as not only markers but amplifiers of the energies found at the site, and therefore correlate closely with various religious practices such as shamanism, paganism, and druidism.
In modern times it is often noted that these locations tend to have amplified spiritual and metaphysical activities even extending into the paranormal and extraterrestrial if you prescribe to this way of thinking!
Where things get really interesting is when these sites are charted on a map as some very interesting patterns start to immerge.
Some of these look like various geometric shapes sometimes to the point where you have to question just how much of similarity can be declared as simply coincidence.
Many of these patterns create a spiritual energy grid which many refer to as ‘ley lines’.
Ley Lines And The Earth Chakras
Ley lines, also called ‘Dragon lines’ in China, and ‘Sprit lines’ in the USA are invisible energy lines that span the globe connecting many historical and sacred sites.
Ley lines are responsible for transmitting energy frequencies around the world similar to an electromagnetic field or even the circulatory system found in each and every one of us.
Before we dive into the locations of the Earth’s chakras, let’s have a quick chakra recap.
Chakras, also called energy centers, energy discs, nadis, and meridians are energy centers of the human body.
Starting at the base of the spine (root chakra) these energy centers travel up the body to the top of the head (crown chakra).
These energy centers are connected to our mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health, as well as our growth and wellbeing in these areas.
It is possible for these centers to become misaligned or over or under-activated which is where many of life’s ailments and illnesses stem from.
The Chakras Of The Earth: A Quick Overview
As we are quite literally talking about the entire globe here, I thought it was wise we gain a brief overview of the 7 Earth chakras before we dive into each individually.
The 7 chakras of planet earth are as follows:
Root Chakra
Found at Mount Shasta in California, USA. Connects us with our inner strength and sense of stability.
Sacral Chakra
Found at Lake Titicaca on the Bolivia/Peru border. A center of sexuality, sensuality, emotional regulation, and creativity.
Solar Plexus Chakra
Found at Ayer’s Rock (known as Uluru) and The Olgas (Kata Tjuta) in Australia. This place connects us with our life energy, sense of purpose, and inner strength.
Heart Chakra
Found at both Glastonbury Tor and Stonehenge in southern England. The center of love, compassion, healing, and forgiveness.
Throat Chakra
Found at both the Great Pyramids of Giza and Mount of Olives in Egypt. A center of communication, truth-seeking, and personal expression.
Third-Eye Chakra
Has no fixed location (more on this later) but is currently situated at both Glastonbury and Shaftesbury in England. This chakra is the seat of intelligence, spirituality, and our sense of intuition.
Crown Chakra
Found at Mount Kailas in Tibet. This place is our connection to the highest levels of wisdom and shapes how we understand the universe and interpret divine guidance.
The 7 Earth Chakras
Chakra 1: The Root Chakra; Mount Shasta, California
The Earth’s root chakra is located at Mount Shasta in California and is one of many powerful mountains in this range which includes the better-known Mount Rainier.
Mount Shasta represents the Earth's root chakra which is the most primal of the chakras as it represents our base energy or foundation.
Because of this, the energy emitted by Mount Shasta is powerful but lacks a distinctive structure.
This is definitely something to bear in mind if you’re intending to visit Mount Shasta as if you’re unprepared for this powerful rush of untamed energy it may unsettle other chakras in your body.
Therefore, when visiting this site it may be wise to prepare yourself via meditation, chakra balancing, or by carrying a crystal or stone with you which is good at energy regulation such as amethyst.
Chakra 2: The Sacral Chakra; Lake Titicaca, Bolivia/Peru Border
Yes, the place, you, I, and just about any child giggled at is the location of the sacral chakra.
While the whole of lake Titicaca is charged with Sacral energy, the epicenter for this earth chakras energies is found at the Titicaca stone and is the place you’ll want to visit if you’re looking to benefit from the energies of this location.
As the home of the Earth's Sacral chakra, Lake Titicaca is a place of sexuality and sensuality for all of Mother Earth’s creatures.
New beginnings and new life are abundant here, which makes this location a great place to visit during a gap year or when at a crossroads in your life.
Chakra 3: The Solar Plexus; Ayer’s Rock and The Olgas, Australia
The twin sites of Ayer’s Rock (Uluru) and The Olgas (Kata Tjuta) comprise the Earth's Solar Plexus chakra of the earth.
The warm red tones of the rocks in these formations perfectly echo the warming energy of the Solar Plexus chakra which is where we can call upon our life energy and discover our inner strength and sense of purpose.
These sites are the Earth's seat of vitality and visiting this site can give travelers a much-needed recharge.
It can also remind us of our driving purpose in life and those who arrive at Ayer’s Rock feeling lost tend to leave its heights with renewed focus and vigor.
Chakra 4: The Heart Chakra; Glastonbury and Shaftesbury, UK
Now, this is one of the sites I can attest to the power of, as I have visited Glastonbury and Glastonbury Tor multiple times and have always felt drawn to and recharged after visiting and make the effort to travel to Glastonbury every couple of years.
While I haven’t visited Stonehenge (which is located in Shaftesbury) I have driven by several times while on my way to London, and have always been able to sense when the car is approaching this powerfully charged Neolithic site.
Glastonbury is a powerful spiritual heartland across multiple faiths including Christianity and Paganism and has connections with the legend of King Arthur and the Holy Grail.
As the seat of the Earth's Heart Chakra, these locations are infused with soothing and healing energies, and in fact, Glastonbury is well-known for its healing waters.
These locations are both centers of compassion and forgiveness too. Visiting these sites can help us to heal from our traumas, or learn to forgive those who have wronged us, and shed the emotional and spiritual weight we’ve held onto.
Chakra 5: The Throat Chakra; Great Pyramids of Giza and Mt. of Olives, Egypt
The Earth’s throat chakra has centers at the Great Pyramids of Giza as well as Mt. of Olives.
This is a testament to our ancestor’s sensitivity to these powerful energy centers, as Pharaoh Khufu decided to build his tomb in the form of a monumental pyramid on the center of the Earth’s Throat chakra in 4,600 BC.
Here at the site of the Throat chakra is Mother Earth’s voice, often so rarely heeded, but with valuable wisdom and insight if we only pause awhile and listen.
While many associate the Throat chakra with verbal communication, communication is actually a two-sided thing and includes listening too.
So, if you’re ever blessed enough to visit this site try listening for a while and see if the universe has any valuable insights to impart to you.
Chakra 6: The Third-Eye Chakra; Currently at Glastonbury, UK
If you’re from the UK and you’re looking for an empowering chakra experience then Glastonbury certainly is the place to go as it's currently home to the Third-Eye Chakra, as well as the Heart Chakra.
Why do I say currently? Well, the Third-Eye Chakra isn’t like the other Chakras of the Earth because it doesn’t like to stay put for too long and will move with each Aeon where this Chakra will move 1/12th around the Earth with each point named after each sign of the Zodiac.
Don’t rush though, because Aeons change about once every 2,000 years so you still have some time before the Chakra location officially moves (though apparently, we’re due to move from the Aeon of Pisces to the Aeon of Aquarius within the next few decades).
After this change happens we won’t enter the next Aeon (known as the Capricornian Aeon) until the year 4,000!
But why does the Third-Eye Chakra move?
Well, there are a few schools of thought for this but the most common belief is that because the Third-Eye Chakra is the seat of all knowledge and insight it moves to gather worldly information and knowledge from sources around the globe.
Chakra 7: The Crown Chakra; Mt. Kailas, Tibet
The Crown Chakra is our seat of metaphysical and spiritual wisdom and is found at Mt. Kailas, which is the most sacred mountain in the Himalayas, which of course are most famous for Mt. Everest.
Mt. Kailas is quite literally our connection to the spirit world on Earth, which is why those looking for a deeper spiritual connection or powerful insight from spiritual guides tend to make a pilgrimage to Tibet and the surrounding areas.
Of course, traveling the world isn’t accessible or feasible for everyone, but the use of the image of Mt. Kailas, either as a photograph or mental image can be powerful for connecting with the power of the Earth when meditating or during manifestation exercises.
Combining The Earth Chakras With Your Spiritual Practice
So, now we know about the locations of Mother Earth’s 7 chakra points, the question remains; how can we interact with these energy sources, or connect more closely to the Earth’s energy centers?
Well, of course, the most obvious way would be to go to the place in question and experience the benefits of these energy centers at their core.
This may be possible if you live nearby or at least in the same country as one or more of the chakra points, but if not, is probably not the best option for you.
I think that these Chakra locations are instead best used to enhance visualization, meditation, and manifestation activities.
For example, if you’re trying to connect with your throat chakra, or wish to work to unblock or nourish this energy center you might try visualizing the Great Pyramids or the Mt. of Olives, or hold a picture of the location as you meditate.
Another great way to incorporate these places within your spiritual practices is to include their image within a visualization board or manifestation box.
You could even source an item from the location or use stones and crystals common to the said region and use them in a crystal grid.
Final Thoughts
The Earth’s Chakra points span the globe and can be powerful and enlightening places to visit.
Picked up on a revered by our ancestors, the Chakra points of the globe are often found on or nearby ancient monuments and make up some of the top sightseeing places for tourists.
Whether you believe in the power of leylines, or earth chakras, energy centers, or what have you, I can attest to there being something truly compelling about these locations, and if visiting you may be amazed at what you’ll experience.
