As spiritual individuals, we know that many of the beauties of our world and even the functional items in our homes couldn’t exist without creative minds painting, drawing, designing, sewing, and so on. 

There are so many benefits to creative living, but some of us can find this free-thinking a struggle and may need to relearn how to view the world with a creative eye.

Others may already embrace creativity but feel like they’ve hit a roadblock with their artistic endeavors, or don’t know how to progress further within their chosen craft.

Why It’s Important To Embrace Creativity

There are so many reasons why embracing creativity is important – in fact, I could write a whole article on this!

I’m an art teacher by trade so of course, there may be some bias in my worldview, but I truly believe many of the challenges we face in life could be overcome if we’d been taught and encouraged to undertake creative outlets.

Why is this?

Well, being creative benefits us in the following ways (to name just a few):

• Increase Ability to Problem Solve: Being creative causes us to shift our worldview and see problems, concepts, and ideas from multiple angles. This can help us come up with innovative solutions to our problems which can benefit us in life and work.

• Formulate Identity: A large portion of our identity is made up of how we ‘customize’ our lives. If you think about it, we’re all humans who live, breathe, and die. What makes us different is how we approach the world during our time on it. Creative exercises can help us to discover new facets of ourselves and understand the kind of person we want to project to the world.

• Developing Confidence (and resilience): A lot of creative pursuits are achieved by practice, trial, and error. (Picasso didn’t just paint masterpieces overnight!) Having to work at something increases our resilience to failure and when we’re able to step back and see our finished result we can gain a great confidence boost!

But, even looking at it as a realist, many crystals are affordable, gorgeous to look at, and make great room/studio decor, so even if you’re skeptical is there really anything to lose in trying?

How Crystals Work For Creativity

Crystals for creativity can help us in many ways.

Most beneficial for artistic individuals is the control of energy flow that crystals can provide.

Many creatives put their heart and soul into their work and creating a piece of art can be a drain on their energy reserves and can lead to burnout or many pieces being left half-finished.

Crystals are able to emit positive and restorative energy as well as capture and store negative energy which can help keep you feeling refreshed even after a long creative session. 

Even if the energy flow inherent to crystals isn’t something you can get behind, the crystals themselves may be used as a visual reminder to be calm, to take time, or to trust your instincts.

This may be combined with a mantra that you can use sporadically throughout the day to keep yourself on track. 

Even the beauty of the crystals in your workspace may be inspiring to you.

Crystals can catch the light in many stunning ways and may appear to shift in color during the day. You might find yourself starting to sketch the crystals or have an idea for a design inspired by the sight before you.

Of course, a boost in creativity isn’t just beneficial to the artisans among us. Even if you work in the complete opposite-field such as statistics or accounting, a creative idea or solution can allow you to perform better at your tasks or solve a long-standing problem.

Because of this, I've collected a master list of a range of creative crystals which should offer a little something for everyone and should provide help for a range of creative needs. 

1. Amethyst

You’ll find that Amethyst appears on a lot of lists of best crystals, because, as a confidence-booster Amethyst is a stone that is useful in many different settings and can be applied to almost every facet of daily life.

A stone of wisdom, intuition, and self-belief, Amethyst can help us to shed the doubts we may feel at the start or midway point of a creative project.

How To Use Crystals For Maximum Effect On Creativity

There are a variety of different ways you can get the most out of your creativity crystals so here’s a rundown of some of my favorites to get you started!

1. Meditation with Crystals

It’s easy to incorporate a crystal or two into your meditation practices.

You can hold a crystal in each hand while meditation, practice a chakra balancing exercise, try reiki healing with said crystals, or get creative and make a crystal grid.

Making a crystal grid is an article within itself but there are plenty of guides out there to get you started.

2. Place a Crystal Under your Pillow

Your dreams are where your creativity can express itself freely without judgment or distraction, therefore it goes without saying that under your pillow is one of the best places to leave a crystal if you’re looking to enhance your creative output.

This will help you wake up and feel refreshed and ready to take on the day and let your creative juices flow.

In the case of more sizable or delicate crystals, placing them on your bedside is just as good!

3. Placement in your Work Space

If you’re an artist with a studio, avid home crafter, or want to bring some creativity into the office then of course a smart move is to place crystals within your place of work.

This may be on your desk, in your top drawer, on your windowsill, or in your studio or craft room, the placement doesn’t matter so long as the crystal is close enough to you for you to receive its many benefits. 

4. Wearing Crystals

The most common and understated way to use crystals to enhance your creativity is to wear them.

This is particularly useful in the case of expensive precious stones such as Ruby, Garnet, and Diamond as you get a special keepsake or fashion statement whilst still looking after your creativity.

If jewelry isn’t your thing then there are a whole host of different gemstone keyrings and bag charms you could try, or you could simplify the whole thing and simply carry a small crystal around in your pocket or handbag for an on-the-go creative boost.
