7 Signs You Have An Underactive Sacral Chakra

7 Signs You Have An Underactive Sacral Chakra

Svadhishthana is the Sanskrit translation of what is commonly known in Western cultures as the sacral chakra.

It is the second energy center in the human body.

Located in the low abdomen, just above the root chakra, the sacral chakra houses all of our pleasures and passions in life.

Your sacral chakra could be underactive if you just learned how to activate it.

Focusing your energy too far in another direction, like the crown and third eye chakras, for example, can lead to similar results.

Regardless, you are likely to experience the same sort of emotions or signs when your sacral chakra is underactive.

What are the signs of an underactive sacral chakra? Detachment, constant fatigue, irrational insecurities, no passions or desire, little to no creativity, no libido, and a fear of any sort of pleasure in life are signs of an underactive sacral chakra. Someone with an underactive sacral chakra may also feel undeserving of what they desire in life.

Not great things to experience, but nothing a little energy work can't fix.

The sacral chakra is the culprit of many mental issues in the world today.

Depression, anxiety, and disassociation are three major examples that could be relieved as a result of maintaining a balanced sacral chakra.

What Causes An Underactive Sacral Chakra?

Speaking on mental illness and its causes is still somewhat of a touchy subject in today's world because there is still so much to be learned about the brain.

That said, if there is an imbalance anywhere in the chakra system (the subtle body), it can and most likely will result in some sort of mental illness.

That's not to say that all mental illnesses are simply manifestations of chakra imbalances, but most chakra imbalances will manifest as mental illnesses, among other things.

Typically, an underactive sacral chakra will result in a lack of passion or interest in anything.

When you look up the definition of depression, you will find a similar answer.

You will probably notice a general disconnect from anything that people find desirable in the physical plane, and chances are, you will want to sleep all the time.

On the other hand, an overactive sacral chakra could result in being drawn to conflict and drama.

Regardless, these emotions' root cause are based on the general lack of connection between your subtle Self and your physical Self.

Both an underactive and overactive sacral chakra can result in drug addiction and even physical abuse.

Fear is the number one cause of blockage in the sacral chakra, and a blockage is what causes the under-activity.

There are many different types of fear that humans can experience, and different chakras could lead to different types of fear.

The fear that usually causes an underactive sacral chakra is a fear of death or fear of life rather.

There is such an enormous amount of pressure that we put on ourselves to experience the most we possibly can in life.

So many people are terrified of living a life full of regrets that they either try to do too much (overactivity), or they shut down and don't do anything (under-activity).

This fear of life or death buries itself in your passion center and radiates into your daily life.

Maybe you suddenly have a fear that your partner is going to leave you, and you shut down and internalize everything, or you outwardly express this fear resulting in an irrational argument that confuses your partner.

Someone with a balanced sacral chakra can see what they consider to be a fulfilled life and can manifest that life without fear because they know what they want, and they aren't fearful.

To put it simply, when your sacral chakra is balanced, you can more easily find the balance between taking life too seriously and not caring about anything.

Activating other chakras can also cause under-activity in the sacral chakra, namely, the third-eye and crown chakras.

These are the two chakras that are most closely linked with the spiritually divine energies rather than those tied to the physical plane.

When you begin your journey of activating and balancing the third-eye and crown chakra, it is important to remember that you are still a human having a physical experience.

The stronger your connection with the spiritual world becomes, the more energy that is taken from other areas, like the sacral chakra.

Think of it this way:

Energy cannot be created or destroyed, only re-cycled and used over again.

So, if you put more and more energy into one area, then there are other areas that aren't receiving that energy.

You aren't creating more spiritual energy.

You are using the energy that was once in your sacral chakra.

As a result, the crown chakra can become overactive, leaving the sacral chakra underactive.

There are many reasons and causes of an underactive sacral chakra.

Timing is everything.

Depending on where someone is in their journey, different things cause the under-activity.

One thing that seems to always be the same is the seven signs of an underactive sacral chakra.

7 Signs & Symptoms of An Underactive Sacral Chakra

Every human is unique, with their own set of unique experiences, emotions, and mental capacity.

Still, there are things that connect us, and the subtle body is one of those things.

No matter where we are in our journey and how specific our problems might feel, there is an underlying cause to every ailment we face.

If you are experiencing any of these seven symptoms, you could have an underactive sacral chakra:

1.  Lacking Desire and Passion For Life

If the sacral chakra is the passion center of the subtle body, then when it lacks energy, it is only right to assume that it will manifest as a lack of desire and passion on the physical plane.

Oftentimes that lack of desire stems from an overarching feeling of detachment and hopelessness.

All of which are symptoms of an underactive sacral chakra.

This is also most commonly the first symptom people feel when their sacral is underactive.

However, it gets overlooked, and then other symptoms begin to manifest.

A great rule of thumb is to recognize how you act and think the moment you start to lack any desire or passion for life.

Yes, this is actually really hard to do, but it is a practice with numerous benefits, including maintaining a balanced sacral chakra.

2.  Feeling Disconnected From the World Around You

When you put too much pressure on life, you might find yourself over-analyzing every decision you make.

This can lead to indecisiveness, which results in typically not making a decision at all or regretting the decision you made.

Whether you realize this or not, indecisiveness synonymous with detachment and feeling disconnected from the world around you.

A feeling of detachment from others can manifest as:

  • Anger
  • Confusion
  • Overthinking
  • Depression
  • Loneliness
  • Anxiety
  • Disassociation
  • A fear of taking risks
  • The inability to feel sympathy or empathy
  • Selfish actions
  • Escapism

This sign usually manifests itself when the under-activity in the sacral is due to an overactive in the third-eye or crown chakras.

3.  Constant Fatigue

Doctors and therapists alike often equate a feeling of constant fatigue with a depression diagnosis.

Some, if not all, of your feelings of fatigue and depression, can be relieved with sacral chakra balancing.

When you feel as though you are separate from others in the world, it can result in a lack of motivation and lack of energy.

In turn, you become easily fatigued.

This type of fatigue is really a lack of Life Force Energy and can make it ten times harder to pull yourself out of.

The reasoning for the difficulty is because you often won't see the point in helping yourself, or maybe you feel undeserving.

It is crucial to understand that this is a mental trap.

It's one thing to need time to rest.

It's another to refuse to get out of bed.

During this time of emotional downward spiral, the best thing you can do for yourself is nearly anything that will restore that Life Force Energy and connect you with the world around you.

4.  Irrational Insecurities Develop

An underactive sacral chakra causes emotional dis-ease, which leads to mental unrest and anxiety.

When anxiety strikes, insecurities develop.

It's important to know that having boundaries is a sign of a balanced sacral, but the moment those boundaries are based on fear, they become insecurities.

Insecurities limit you from experiencing life – your passions.

All it takes is one negative thought, and the ego can spiral into a whole mess of things rather quickly.

Sometimes the best way to relieve this symptom is to get those thoughts out one-by-one.

Whether you write it out or talk to a trusted professional or friend, getting them out is the easiest way to confront them and deal.

Usually, you will soon see how ridiculous they all sound when spoken or written into the physical plane.

5.  You Are Stifled Creatively

Knowing that the subtle body's passion and emotion center is also the home of creativity makes a lot of sense.

Creative people tend to be unafraid to express their emotions.

They embrace them.

When that area is underactive, it can manifest itself as a creative block as well.

Maybe you feel:

  • Like everything you create is worthless
  • Unable to finish a project
  • Unable to come up with ideas
  • Confused with creative direction

Take note of these feelings!

6.  Little To No Libido

The sacral chakra is the home of sensual passions as well as sexual.

On the physical body, it manifests itself in the low abdomen and genital area.

That is to say, your lack of libido could be a result of an underactive sacral chakra.

All jokes aside, libido is a combination of testosterone, estrogen, and even progesterone. If you have a hormonal imbalance, it could also be a result of an underactive sacral chakra.

Restoring that Life Force Energy will inevitably lead to an increase in libido once again.

It might take some shadow-work to get there, but what doesn't?

7.  A Deep-Seeded Fear of Pleasure (Of Any Kind)

This goes hand-in-hand with the symptom as mentioned above but extends to other areas of life as well.

There are many, many reasons one might have a fear of pleasure of any kind.

We aren't here to get hung up on trauma, though.

Whatever reason you make for yourself for this fear of pleasure, you must recognize that it's a symptom of an underactive sacral chakra.

If you have trauma in this area of your life, I encourage you to be patient with yourself but to keep working.

You can heal any trauma you put your mind to, but remember that you do not have to do it alone although it is a solitary journey.

That said, your fear of pleasure can manifest from feelings of worthlessness and mental dis-ease as well.

I encourage you to sit with all of your emotions, no matter how small they may feel.

Getting into a habit of embracing every emotion is the best way to maintain a balanced sacral chakra.

Generally, the more comfort you can find in stillness, the easier it will be to maintain balance in your sacral chakra in the long-term.

Your sacral chakra works just as closely with your emotions as the heart chakra, which is why it's known as the home of physical passions.

It is important to find that emotional wellness in any way that works best for you.

Give these six methods a try and see what works best for you.

You might find that a combination of things works best.

The key is to listen to what your intuition tells you and to stay consistent in your practice.

Maintaining chakra balance requires full integration of self-love practices into your daily life.

It's okay to only do these things when you feel off balance.

However, if you do little things every day to ensure you maintain balance, you will receive greater benefits overall.
