Venus turns retrograde in Scorpio on October 3, astrologers say, stirring old flames and money talk

Venus, the planet astrologically tied to love, beauty and money, is set to turn retrograde on October 3, 2026, beginning its backward path in Scorpio, the Free Press Journal and Hindustan Times report.

Astrologers describe the transit as a period of reassessment rather than romantic progress, with Hindustan Times noting Venus will move retrograde through Scorpio from October 3 to November 13.

Venus already settled into Scorpio in September#

Venus entered Scorpio on September 10, 2026, at 4:09 a.m. EDT, according to Hindustan Times, which reported that the planet's long stay in the sign is linked to the retrograde beginning October 3.

US-based astrologer Tetiana Tsvil of Nebula told Hindustan Times that Venus in Scorpio can deepen a need for trust and intimacy, though this same planetary influence may simultaneously trigger feelings of jealousy and possessiveness alongside efforts to dominate a partner if confidence wavers. Tsvil recommended planning rather than acting on impulse when a financial choice carries long-term consequences.

YourTango reported that Venus was transiting Libra for the first ten days of September before entering Scorpio on the 10th, where the site said the shift makes a person's focus on relationships quieter and more private, alongside a Mars move into Leo on September 28.

Mercury joins the reversal in late October#

The Free Press Journal reports Venus will move into its home sign, Libra, on October 31, and that Mercury will also be retrograde in Scorpio from October 24 to October 31, a week the outlet says can complicate communication between partners.

Times Now describes Venus retrograde as traditionally viewed in astrology as a period of reassessment, with Scorpio associated with intimacy, trust, jealousy, control and emotional power dynamics, which the outlet says can make unresolved issues in a relationship harder to ignore.

Astrologers link the transit to unresolved exes#

Hindustan Times reports that Venus retrograde is traditionally linked to the reemergence of former connections and circumstances, and that with Venus retrograde in Scorpio these experiences may be tied to relationships that ended without closure.

The Free Press Journal similarly advises that once Venus returns to Libra it might bring an ex back into contact, and suggests assessing that person's intentions before committing to anything rather than accepting them back immediately.
