Summary

The Kalma Astaghfar is a prayer to Allah asking for mercy for all sins, irrespective of if they are known or unknown, done secretly or openly knowingly or accidentally. It recognizes Allah’s capability as depicted in Surah Maryam, to forgive sins and know what is unseen. Muslims recite it as a show of regret and a request for Allah’s acceptance and kindness as exemplified in Surah Yaseen. Additionally, the Sixth Kalma is recited for seeking Allah’s mercy and defense.
