Fourth Kalma in Arabic

لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Fourth Kalma English Translation

“There is none worthy of worship except Allah, He is alone, and He has no partner. To Him belongs the Kingdom, and to Him belongs all praise, and He gives life and causes death. And He is alive, He will not die. never. Possessor of Majesty and Reverence. In His hand is all good and He has power over everything.”

Word by Word Meaning and Explanation

Alternatively referred to as the “Words of Oneness,” the Fourth Kalma is as follows:

La ilaha illallahu (لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللهُ): This means “There is no god but Allah.”

Wahdahu la sharika lahu (وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ): This means “He is alone, and He has no partner.”

Lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu (لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ): This means “To Him belongs the dominion, and to Him belongs all praise.”

Yuhyi wa yumeetu (يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ): This means “He gives life, and He causes death.”

Wa huwa hayyul la yamootu (وَهُوَ حَيٌّ لَا يَمُوتُ): This means “And He is the Ever-Living; He does not die.”

Bi yadihil khairu wa huwa ‘ala kulli shay’in qadeer (بِيَدِهِ الْخَيْرُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ): This means “In His hand is all good, and He is over all things competent.”

Summary

The unity, infinite power, and complete authority of Allah over every element of presence are revealed in the Fourth Kalma. We recite it as a part of our belief and recognition of Allah’s qualities. It is an extensive declaration of Tawhid (monotheism), reflecting the message of Surah Ikhlas.
