Zomato took a playful dig at the Pakistan cricket team following their defeat to the USA in the ICC T20 World Cup match this week. The USA’s victory, marking their first appearance in the Cricket World Cup, was sealed in a thrilling Super Over, leaving Pakistan trailing by 5 runs.

Zomato’s Epic Tweet Revives Memories of Pakistan’s 2019 World Cup Loss; Zomato, an Indian multinational restaurant aggregator and food delivery firm, made waves with a remarkable tweet on Saturday, stirring memories of Pakistan’s defeat to India in the 2019 World Cup at Old Trafford, just before the much-anticipated match.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, the food delivery platform humorously addressed Pakistan as “bro” and raised a pertinent question, “Sunday ko ad slots le ya na”? The post also teased the team about their performance in the recent match against the USA.

Joining the banter, Zomato’s competitor Swiggy chimed in, jokingly suggesting, “lagta hai USA jaa ke zyada burger pizzey kha liye,” on X, formerly Twitter.

Reflecting on cricket’s biggest rivalry, it’s noted that the India and Pakistan cricket teams have clashed seven times in previous ICC Men’s T20 World Cup matches. Their encounters span from 2007, including the Final, through 2022. Of these, India has emerged victorious six times, including memorable wins like the epic bowl-out and Virat Kohli’s remarkable run chase in Australia in 2022. Pakistan secured their lone victory in the 2021 edition in Dubai, breaking India’s winning streak in World Cups.

The most recent face-off between the two teams in the T20 World Cup occurred in October 2022 at a packed Melbourne Cricket Stadium in Australia.
