Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated Narendra Modi, who is poised to serve a third consecutive term as Prime Minister of India. This follows the victory of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance in the parliamentary elections.

Zelenskyy wrote on X, “I welcome the successful holding of the world’s largest democratic elections in India. Congratulations to Prime Minister @NarendraModi, the BJP, and BJP-led NDA on the third consecutive victory in India’s parliamentary elections.” “I wish the people of India peace and prosperity, and I hope for continued cooperation between our countries. India and Ukraine share common values and a rich history. May our partnership thrive, bringing progress and mutual understanding for our nations.”

Zelenskyy also expressed anticipation for India’s participation in the Peace Summit. “Everyone recognizes the significance and weight of India’s role in global affairs. We all must work together to ensure a just peace for all nations. In this regard, we also look forward to seeing India attend the Peace Summit.”

PM Modi re-elected for a third term, BJP seeks coalition support from JD(U) Nitish Kumar and TDP Chandrababu Naidu. 2024 Lok Sabha election results show BJP with 240 seats, down from 303 in 2019; Congress gains with 99 seats. INDIA bloc surpasses 230 seats, defying expectations.

In April, Ignazio Cassis, the Foreign Minister of Switzerland, revealed plans for Switzerland to organize a major international conference in June. The conference aims to gather over 100 countries to work towards establishing peace in Ukraine following more than two years of conflict.

The Russia-Ukraine conflict, which began on February 24, 2022, when Moscow initiated ‘special military operations’ against Kyiv, has persisted for over three years. This prolonged conflict has inflicted significant harm on infrastructure and led to civilian casualties in both Ukraine and Russia.
