The biopic of cricket legend Yuvraj Singh was officially announced on Tuesday through the Instagram and X handles of T-Series Films. The film, tentatively titled Six Sixes, will chronicle Yuvraj’s incredible journey from being a World Cup hero to overcoming cancer.
A Story of Triumphs Both On and Off the Field
In a tweet, the filmmakers shared, “Relive the legend’s journey from the pitch to the heart of millions — Yuvraj Singh’s story of grit and glory is coming soon on the big screen!”
T-Series head Bhushan Kumar, known for movies like Animal and Kabir Singh, is collaborating with producer Ravi Bhagchandka to bring Yuvraj’s story to life. Ravi previously produced the 2017 Sachin Tendulkar documentary, Sachin: A Billion Dreams.
According to a report by Variety, the film is set to recreate one of Yuvraj’s most iconic moments: hitting six sixes in a single over against England’s Stuart Broad during India’s victorious 2007 T20 World Cup campaign. His crucial role in India’s 2011 World Cup win, where he was named Player of the Series, will also be highlighted. The film will depict Yuvraj’s battle with cancer, which was diagnosed in 2011, and his inspiring comeback to cricket in 2012. Yuvraj retired from international cricket in 2019.
Yuvraj’s Thoughts on His Biopic
Yuvraj expressed his feelings about the biopic, saying, “I am deeply honored that my story will be showcased to millions of my fans across the globe by Bhushan-ji and Ravi. Cricket has been my greatest love and source of strength through all the highs and lows. I hope this film inspires others to overcome their own challenges and pursue their dreams with unwavering passion.”
T-Series’ Bhushan Kumar added, “Yuvraj Singh’s life is a compelling narrative of resilience, triumph, and passion. His journey from a promising cricketer to a cricketing hero, and then to a hero in real life, is truly inspiring. I am thrilled to bring a story that needs to be told and heard through the big screen and to celebrate his extraordinary achievements.”
