They have been identified as Bateilum Tikro aged 33 years and Bayingso Manyu aged 35 years. They were last seen by fellow villagers on 24 August when they apparently stepped out to get some medicinal plants from the mountains. They were carrying along with them some food items and bedding that could last for as long as15-20 days.

The family members lodged a missing complaint at Khupa village police station on October 9 when the duo didn’t return even after a month. The speculations are emerging that the duo might have crossed Indian Territory mistakenly and entered China where they are abducted by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA). The family has urged central government, state government and army to help trace them.

Not to mention, five youths Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh earlier in September 2020 by PLA and were released after a few weeks. The locals have stated that youths generally go up to hills in this Indo-China bordering district and mistakenly enter Chinese territory and get abducted.
