YesMadam Faces Mass Firings: 100+ Employees Laid Off After Mental Health Survey Results

YesMadam, a home salon services company, has sacked over 100 employees reportedly after a mental health survey. The shocking move, which stunned most employees, has gone viral with former workers airing their dissatisfaction on social media. The criticism over handling the situation continues to increase against the company.

Survey Turns into Dismissal: A Shocking Turn of Events

The whole incident began with the company conducting a mental health survey to check the levels of stress in employees. Although the survey seemed like a positive step toward knowing the well-being of their workforce, the result was the trigger for massive layoffs.

According to an anonymous former employee of YesMadam, “What is going on at YesMadam? First you do a random survey and now fire us in the dead of night because we’re stressed? It’s not just me; I think over 100 have also been shown the door.“.

Email Shock to Employees regarding Layoff

The highly disputed process of layoff was made via email. UX Copywriter Anushka Dutta posted a screenshot of the email received by the HR manager at YesMadam, Ashu Arora Jha. It stated on a very promising note about how much the company is concerned about stress among its employees and will keep them healthy as they work with their employer.

However, the tone quickly turned sour, as the email said, “To ensure that no one remains stressed at work, we have made the difficult decision to part ways with employees who indicated significant stress.” The decision, described as “effective immediately,” left employees blindsided and questioning the company’s commitment to its staff.

Social Media Backlash and Outrage

The email notification, which informed the employees that further details would be mailed to them, has become a subject of widespread outrage in social media. Many users are criticising YesMadam for using the mental health survey as a guise for mass layoffs.

Former employees have complained that their firings lack transparency and this can be considered an ethical issue if based on a mental health status. Wider questions about employer responsibility towards the welfare of the employee without resorting to Draconian measures have also come up as a result.

Until now, YesMadam has not issued a public statement regarding the scandal. The company is caught in a tight spot, and if the fall continues, it may hurt its reputation and employees’ trust in the future.

This move by YesMadam has called attention to the importance of mental health at work and how companies should respond to such sensitive issues with care. Experts have charged organisations to reconsider how they address employee stress, pleading for open communication, support, and tangible solutions beyond punitive actions.

As the storm continues to grow, it would be interesting to see how YesMadam reacts to the backlash and whether it will take any step to apologise to its former employees.
