Social media platform X experienced outages late on Tuesday, according to Downdetector.com, a website that tracks service interruptions by compiling status reports from multiple sources, including users. At the peak of the outage, over 36,500 reports were logged in the US.
Downdetector also indicated over 27,700 outage reports in the US, as well as more than 3,300 in Canada and 1,600 in the UK. The reason for the outage has not yet been identified.
A significant number of users in India faced issues such as not being able to load new posts or refresh their feeds, with the majority of problems appearing to originate from the app.
This outage comes shortly after a Spaces conversation between X owner Elon Musk and former US president Donald Trump was disrupted by what Musk claimed was a “massive” cyber-attack.
Since Elon Musk’s $44 billion acquisition of Twitter, now known as X, the platform has frequently encountered technical difficulties and glitches. Musk has previously criticized the platform’s code, calling it “brittle.”
Fortunately, this latest outage was brief, lasting less than an hour.
