Tesla’s humanoid robot, Optimus, captivated audiences at the ‘We, Robot’ event held in California on Thursday. The robot showcased its abilities by dancing, serving drinks, and even posing for selfies with guests. However, it was a specific interaction with a guest that quickly went viral on social media.

In a one-minute video shared by user @cb_doge on X (formerly Twitter), a guest expressed amazement at the robot’s conversational skills, saying, “It’s insane. It is even talking.” During their lighthearted exchange, the guest inquired, “What is the hardest thing about being a robot?” Optimus responded, “Trying to learn how to be as human as you guys are,” which elicited laughter from the guest. Optimus added, “And that is something I try harder every day and hope that will help us become better.”

Another video showcased Optimus’s playful side, where user Emmanuel Huna demonstrated a game of “Rock, Paper, Scissors” with the robot. Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who introduced Optimus at the event, highlighted its versatility, stating, “It will basically do anything you want. It can be a teacher, babysit your kids, walk your dog, mow your lawn, get the groceries, just be your friend, and serve drinks. Whatever you can think of, it will do, and it’s going to be awesome.”

Demonstrations at the event revealed Optimus performing various household tasks, such as picking up packages, watering plants, cleaning surfaces, unloading groceries, and even playing with children, showcasing its potential to integrate into everyday life.
